Personal Effects, Valuables & House Clearances

This is a subject that I am asked about from time to time, and would like to explain my procedure regarding the above.

Personal effects such as watches, money, jewellery etc., are usually removed from the deceased at the hospital or the nursing home, and are handed to the immediate family.  Wedding rings are sometimes left on, and this is mentioned to the family, who can then decide if this is what they or the deceased would have wanted.  It is a matter of personal and sentimental choice.

It is our policy to remove all jewellery from the deceased, unless otherwise informed by the immediate family.  This is usually discussed during the initial interview with the family of the deceased.

House clearances are a different matter, and an area which can often cause some distress unless handled correctly.  It need not be the worry that you might think, providing you consult your solicitor and it is agreed that everything is in order, and then you can arrange for someone to help.

Finding someone who can be completely trustworthy in this field is one of the problems you can face, and it is here that I can confidently help.

My mother, Mrs. Shawna Peters, is in the business of buying and selling antiques, and has helped past clients of mine with the task of clearing a relative’s house, thus helping alleviate a large problem.

If you wish me to contact her on your behalf I am more than happy to do so, and can assure you that anything discussed with her will be in the strictest confidence. If you wish me to arrange a house clearance on your behalf, do not hesitate to ask, I will be happy to help in any way.

Scott.
